Earth Day 2021

19 April 2021

Earth Day presents us with an opportunity to amplify the need to deliver positive change for our planet.

“Restore Our Earth” - this powerful statement represents the theme of Earth Day this year. Attention to the planets needs has been very much overshadowed by what its inhabitants have had to deal with. Climate Change can be seen as the Earth’s Coronavirus.

De-forestation is continuing at an alarming rate in many parts of the globe, eco systems and habitats destroyed in an instant. But it’s not all doom and gloom because, let’s face it, we’ve had too much of that this year. Many companies and businesses continue to drive forward sustainability. Brewdog, is one of these, with its quirky beverages and community focus it has been making big waves. They recently purchased a 2,050-acre piece of land in the Highlands of Scotland with the aim of planting trees and restoring peatland to become carbon negative and B Corp organisations are growing – you can find out more about B Corps here - https://bcorporation.net/

Although businesses are developing sustainable practices, we as ‘individuals’ can also play our part. Why not practice sustainable fashion? If you need tips on how to do this just search sustainable fashion on google, you’ll get links to some great places where you can find out more. Donating your old clothes and home goods instead of throwing them out is the perfect way to offset your own carbon footprint and help others. Why not try participating in Meatless Monday’s? This is also seen as a form of climate action with a diet focus.

Positive change comes in many forms but changing up your daily routine can have a significant impact in fighting climate change, it can also inspire others.
